STANDARDS & CERTIFICATION

Built to the codes that matter.
Backed in writing.

Anyone can lay turf. Building a surface a governing body will certify — and standing behind it with a written warranty — is a different discipline. This is the standard JL Turf Group holds itself to on every project.

In short

Built to FIFA, FIH, ITF, World Rugby and AFL surface codes.
Australian-made base and infill where performance is equal; certified yarns where required.
Surface and workmanship warranties — provided in writing on every project.
Directors on site, in-house crew, photographic record at every milestone.

THE CODES WE BUILD TO

Standards, in plain English.

A code is only useful if you understand what it actually guarantees. Here is what each one tests for, and why it matters for your project.

Football

FIFA Quality & FIFA Quality Pro

What it requires

Independent lab and in-field testing for ball roll, ball rebound, shock absorption, vertical deformation, rotational resistance and surface evenness. FIFA Quality Pro is the elite tier used for professional competition.

Why it matters

It is the difference between a pitch that simply looks the part and one a governing body will certify for sanctioned matches. We build to the testing protocol, not just the look.

Hockey

FIH Global & FIH National

What it requires

Field hockey surfaces tested for ball behaviour, surface friction, water retention and player–surface interaction. Global is the international competition standard; National suits club and school play.

Why it matters

Hockey is unforgiving of an inconsistent surface. Building to FIH means predictable ball speed and a safe, repeatable playing characteristic across the whole field.

Tennis

ITF Court Pace

What it requires

Classification of court speed (slow to fast) under the International Tennis Federation's pace rating, plus consistency of bounce and surface uniformity.

Why it matters

A court built to a known ITF pace category plays the way it is meant to — and can be specified with confidence by clubs and schools.

Rugby

World Rugby Regulation 22

What it requires

Performance and safety testing for synthetic rugby surfaces, including impact attenuation, studded-boot interaction and durability under contact load.

Why it matters

Rugby places the highest impact demands on a surface. Regulation 22 testing is what separates a compliant contact field from a liability.

Australian Football

AFL Surface Guidance

What it requires

AFL preferred-practice guidance for synthetic and hybrid surfaces covering traction, hardness, infill stability and player safety.

Why it matters

For councils and schools delivering AFL-capable grounds, building to this guidance is how a multi-use oval stays safe and fit for purpose season after season.

MATERIALS PHILOSOPHY

"Australian-made base and infill where performance is equal. Internationally certified yarns where Australian supply does not meet code. We do not compromise on either."

Material selection is driven by the standard the surface has to meet — never by cost alone. We name specific suppliers on a project once supply agreements are in place; until then, we specify categorically against the relevant code, so you always know exactly what is going under and on top of your surface.

WARRANTY

Two warranties, both in writing.

Every project carries a surface/performance warranty and a separate workmanship warranty on the installation. The framework below applies across our systems; the exact terms for your project are set out in your written quote and confirmed at handover.

FIFA-grade & multi-sport turf

Surface warranty
Performance warranty against premature wear and UV degradation
Workmanship warranty
Installation warranty on base, seams and line marking

Acrylic & polyurethane hard courts

Surface warranty
Coating system warranty against delamination and fading
Workmanship warranty
Warranty on base preparation, crack control and finish

Rubber wet-pour & soft-fall surfacing

Surface warranty
Warranty against premature wear and loss of impact attenuation
Workmanship warranty
Warranty on base preparation, bonding and finish

Landscape & lifestyle turf

Surface warranty
Warranty against fibre breakdown and colour loss
Workmanship warranty
Warranty on edging, drainage and fixing

Warranty periods are specified per surface system in your written quote. Cover is conditional on the recommended maintenance regime being followed.

MAINTENANCE REGIME

A surface lasts as long as it is looked after.

We hand over a maintenance schedule with every install, and can deliver it for you under a service contract. Here is what good maintenance looks like across the year.

Weekly

Visual inspection, debris and litter removal, spot brushing of high-traffic zones.

Monthly

Power brushing to lift and redistribute fibres, infill level check and top-up where needed.

Quarterly

Deep decompaction, drainage check, seam and line-marking inspection, moss and weed treatment.

Annually

Full performance review against the relevant code, infill rejuvenation, and a written condition report.

QUALITY CONTROL

How we hold the standard.

Certification is the floor. What actually delivers a surface that performs is who is on site, who is laying it, and what gets documented along the way.

A director on every site

Luke or Josh Packham is personally present on every commercial project — not a rotating account manager. The people who quote the work supervise the build.

In-house team, no subcontracting

Core install work is delivered by our own crew. We control the standard because we control the labour. No handoff, no finger-pointing.

Photographic record at every milestone

Base, sub-base, shock pad, surface and line marking are photographed and documented as the build progresses — so the work under the surface is provable, not just promised.

Sign-off at handover

Every project closes with a documented handover: as-built detail, the materials used, warranty terms in writing, and a maintenance schedule tailored to the surface.

BUYER-PROOF PACK

Download the proof behind the standards.

Use these public documents to align buyers, certifiers and asset managers before tender, then request project-specific certificates and close-out records during procurement.

Insurance certificates and project-specific compliance documents are available during procurement after scope, entity and project details are confirmed.

Standards — your questions

Which sports codes does JL Turf Group build to?+

We build to FIFA Quality and FIFA Quality Pro for football, FIH Global and National for hockey, the ITF court-pace classification for tennis, World Rugby Regulation 22 for rugby, and AFL surface guidance for Australian football. The applicable code is specified for each project before work begins.

Are your materials Australian-made?+

We use Australian-made base and infill wherever performance is equal, and internationally certified yarns where Australian supply does not meet the relevant code. We do not compromise on either — the choice is driven by the standard the surface has to meet, not by cost alone.

What warranty do you provide?+

Every surface system carries both a surface/performance warranty and a separate workmanship warranty on the installation. Exact terms depend on the surface system selected and are set out in writing in your quote and confirmed again at handover.

Do you maintain surfaces after installation?+

Yes. We offer scheduled maintenance — weekly through to annual — including brushing, infill top-up, decompaction, drainage checks and a written annual condition report. Service-contract tiers can be arranged to suit the surface and how heavily it is used.

Who supervises the build?+

A company director is on site for every commercial project, supported by our own in-house crew. We do not subcontract core installation work, and every milestone is photographed and documented.

What can void a warranty?+

Typically, unapproved third-party repairs, use outside the surface's intended sport or load, and skipped maintenance can affect warranty cover. The specific inclusions and exclusions are detailed in your written warranty so there are no surprises.
